Adoption Process
Prior to adoption (For International Dogs)
Dog suitable for adoption are identified by the shelter staff. In order to be eligible for adoption, dog must have a suitable temperament, be vaccinated for major canine diseases and cleared by veterinary staff, spayed or neutered and have a rabies blood titer to prove vaccine efficacy.
Identification of Adopters
We place dogs based on suitability for each family. Suitability is based upon each applicant. Our adoption application is the first place to start. Once this is filled out, we will contact you for further questions if needed, to answer any questions you may have and provide additional pictures and videos if available. The application is non binding, and is simply used for the purpose of determining suitability for each potential pet.
Placing a pet on hold
Upon a mutually agreed upon adoption, we ask for a non-refundable $100 hold deposit. This is due to the amount of volunteer work that goes into the adoption process for our US volunteers and our teams in Turkey. This can be done through our donations page.
Travel (for international dogs)
Dogs are flown to New York, JFK airport in USDA approved crates on major commercial airlines. A flight attendant will check all dogs in and will then be available at the pick up airport. Dogs are flown into only USDA approved airports and then transported to their heath facility for a veterinary check. Once cleared, the pets can be picked up by their adopters and taken home to their new and better lives!
